Introduction - Foredown Tower

ArchiTEXTS project leader, Stephanie Fuller, had from the very start been keen to hold the ArchiTEXTS CD Rom launch in a suitably unusual location. The eventual choice was Foredown Tower, an Edwardian water tower built in 1909 to supply Brighton Isolation Hospital, now preserved as home to the only permanent operational camera obscura in the south east. This choice of venue presented an unmissable opportunity to develop the project one step further: poet and writer Catherine Smith was commissioned to create additional material for the CD Rom, responding to the building in which the CD Rom would be launched. The work was completed during October and November 2002
